What a great day at the WorldSkills UK National Finals last week. A full agenda for GTA England members including an AI Masterclass, information on the Communities of Practice (looking forward to the Advanced Manufacturing one) and a guided tour of the competitions taking place at the University of Salford. Here we were able to see competitors taking part in Additive Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, Mechatronics and Automation. The day gave us all plenty to think about in terms of how we engage with the WorldSkills CPD programme to further enhance the high quality training given to our apprentices, how we use AI as a positive tool within education and how we can increase the number of competitors from GTA England members in future competitions. We already have three of our members, Gloucestershire Engineering Training Limited, The MTC – Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre and JTL Training who entered apprentices into this year’s round of competitions but it would be good to see the numbers grow in coming years further showcasing the excellent training offered by Group Training Associations. Thank you to the team at WorldSkills for a warm welcome and great day and in particular to Ben Blackledge (WorldSkills CEO) who joined us.
